Apple iPhone is perhaps the most talked about touchscreen gadget in recent months. But as for cool factor, it is far from this invention by a research scientist named Jeff Han.
It is a touch interface that works similarly to the one we saw in Minority Report. The widescreen display showed here is pretty huge. That is already a really cool thing in itself. But add to that the ability to use your hands and drag, flip, and zoom things around, woah! Zooming and panning around in Google Maps seems so easy. Arranging and sorting photos seems really intuitive too. The demonstration really shows how this can be the future of computing.
One potential problem I foresee though, is that for such a large screen, you probably have to stand around to do all the touching. Could get tiring after a while. And if adopted on smaller screens, we’ll still have to keep our hands lifted in the air while sitting down. Doesn’t sound very comfortable to me.
